It's Abandoned on Google Maps

Look for these spooky Abandoned locations on Google Maps and explore their wonder on Street View. Quality worksheets that prompt the student to use the navigation tools on Google Maps and explore a bit closer to answer the questions. There are a whole lot of man-made structures out there that have been left to rot or are waiting for a new life. Students look closely at the remains and complete some exercises to reflect on their investigations. 8 Locations in all are identified, plus another dozen or so that students can search for in their own time. Lonely fun park wiped out by Hurricane Katrina Desolate industrial island Massive empty car plant Rusting and bogged locomotives from another era Overgrown mill house in the middle of a busy town … and more Very original and includes an answer key. I’d be really disappointed if anyone is not happy with these packs, so if that’s you, please get back to me and your money will be very happily refunded. I’d really like some feedback too, so all comments most welcome.

Negative versus Positive Humour

It is important for any student to understand the difference between the two types of humour - one that hurts and offends, compared to the type that makes you feel good, energised and relaxed, and there are no victims that feel bad. These ten worksheets focus on helping Middle School students identify the difference between the types of humour. The worksheets analyse the Sarcastic Wit, the Nit Wit, and the Clowning Wit. I have found that teaching humour in the classroom is such fun - of course - and it can have relevance to many parts of the curriculum. Answer key included

How to Tell a Joke

How to Tell a Joke

(0)
Telling a joke to a group of people is a real art - and no-one ever teaches us how to do it! These worksheets explore some key aspects of joke telling and they can be great fun in any middle classroom. I suggest setting the ground rules with the class right at the beginning so that any inappropriate material is not used as a joke… but that never really happened in any of the lessons that I conducted with my students, so hopefully it is a non-issue for your class as well. This pack includes 12 pages of worksheets plus an answer key showing some suggested answers to the questions about jokes. Headings in the pack include: - Defining a joke - Putting on your humor hat - What is the best joke you have ever heard? - Know your audience - Joke types - How to write your own joke - How to deliver a joke I really enjoy working with humor in my classes and I have about a dozen packs of worksheets that worked in my class in my TES store. ******************************************** I’d be really disappointed if anyone is not happy with these packs, so if that’s you, please get back to me and your money will be very happily refunded. I’d really like some feedback too, so all comments most welcome.

The problems cover a range of activities, but my class particularly liked the activity based on Disneyland where they had to zoom in on Street View as well as use the Earth function to mathematically calculate the number of car parks in a particular structure at Disneyland, and also calculate the commercial profitability of the car park. This is a multi-skilled pack for Middle School students and those who have bought my other packs over the years (thank you all!) you will know that each sheet is well laid out, nicely presented and encourages the student to work independently on each activity. As well as the Disneyland activity, the pack includes: - designing a road trip - searching for mathematical street names in a particular location(we found more than 10 names!) - researching odd mathematical locations - measuring and comparing distance - and more 10 pages of worksheets, PLUS an answer key. ______________________________________________________ Google Street View Worksheets 24 pages of worksheets for upper primary/lower secondary students using Google's fabulous Street View, newly updated with Answer Key and further instructions for Agent Pegman. All the activities were great fun in my classroom, and the students could progress through them at their own pace and without too much direction. ______________________________________________________ Placemarkers in Google Maps Representing data on a map is an important form of communicating information to the reader. Information graphics need to provide the right information in the clearest format possible. Google Maps provides an easy facility to display data for any reader, and anybody can use this facility to upload their information. An excellent introduction to this topic would be for the teacher and students to explore the range of ways that data can be represented on a map. Different ways include heat maps, geographic stretching of continents, icons and symbols, colours and shades, bar graphs, and interactive maps. The lessons and activities in this unit of work are for the lower and middle secondary years of schooling and focus on how to add Placemarkers and how to bulk upload more than one data point to show a broader range of data. Simple instructions and clear screenshots, along with relevant student activities make this unit of work self-instructing for every student. ******************************************** 100% Money Back guarantee - if there is anything at all about this pack that disappoints or was not as expected, please get back to me and your investment will be completely refunded - no issue at all. ******************************************** See more here: Middle School Resources ******************************************** Learn more about the author at Malcom Brown ********************************************
